Program notes

Join the National Youth Orchestra of the United States for a very special stop in Dallas on their coast-to-coast North American tour,  conducted by the great Sir Andrew Davis! On the program: contemporary American composer Valerie Coleman's brand-new Giants of Light, commissioned by Carnegie Hall to celebrate the NYO-USA's 10th birthday; the electrifying Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, with the inimitable Hilary Hahn performing some of the most difficult and memorable passages in the violin repertoire; and Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, a masterpiece of programmatic music that depicts an artist haunted by an unrequited love, following him on a hallucinatory journey from pastoral tranquility all the way to a sinister witches' sabbath…
