Program notes

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Verbier Festival, Mathieu Herzog conducts the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra in an original transcription of Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals, tinted with local colors – where the cow replaces the lion and the goat replaces the kangaroo. Formidable soloists, like pianists Lucas Debargue and Alexandre Kantorow, come together to magnify this arrangement of the famous 19th century musical fresco in a concert accompanied by the magnificent animated paintings of the artist Sandra Albukrek, who unfold above the orchestra through a brilliant scenography.
