Program notes

It's the moment of truth at the 17th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition, coming to you live from Poznań, Poland! As the oldest violin competition in the world, the prestigious event has launched the international careers of soloists like David Oistrakh (2nd Prize, 1935), Igor Oistrakh (1st Prize, 1952), Alena Baeva (1st Prize, 2001), and many more. At the Finals of the 2026 edition, the remaining soloists each perform music by the competition’s namesake, Henryk Wieniawski — either his Violin Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp Minor, Op. 14, or the Violin Concerto in D Minor No. 2, Op. 22 — with the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra. Tune in to find out who will follow in the footsteps of the greats...
