The impeccable Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra returns for another unforgettable evening under the baton of their illustrious music director Gábor Takács-Nagy! Live from the Salle des Combins, they are joined by two brilliant violinists: Augustin Hadelich, who performs Mendelssohn's elegant Violin Concerto No. 2—unusual for its lack of orchestral introduction and the continuity between its movements—and Marc Bouchkov, who takes on Ysaÿe's Violin Concerto, a single movement rediscovered and painstakingly reconstructed by musicologist Xavier Falques in 2019, aided by the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium. The ensemble also interprets Beethoven's monumental Symphony No. 7, tuneful and epic and singularly rythmic, from the soul-stirring funeral march of the second movement to the triple-time third movement and the ineluctably triumphant finale.
