Program notes

Pianist David Kadouch and the Quatuor Hermès invite you to a Schumannian-flavored evening of chamber music, held behind closed doors from the Fondation Singer-Polignac! Beginning with the Nocturne by virtuoso pianist and composer Clara Schumann, the evening continues with two spirited pieces by her husband Robert Schumann. Delight in the exuberant E-flat major serenity of a treasured "creative double": the Op. 47 Piano Quartet and the revolutionary Op. 44 Piano Quintet, both written in 1842 and both among the composer's most enduring masterpieces.
