Program notes

In this dramatic program from the 2025 Coups de Cœur à Chantilly, filmed in the world-famous Château de Chantilly, the Cappella Mediterranea and their acclaimed musical director Leonardo García-Alarcón take you to Sicily’s sunlit shores through popular melodies and Baroque compositions! From madrigals by Scarlatti and Gesualdo to anonymous tarantellas, García-Alarcón picks up the baton of pastiche, creating a new work by juxtaposing a vibrant range of existing compositions, brought to life by a cast including Ana Vieira Leite, Mariana Flores, Léo Fernique, Valerio Contaldo, and Matteo Bellotto. Experience the sounds of Southern Italy three centuries ago, following the misfortunes of Cecilia, whose melancholic Calabrian song echoes throughout the drama…
