Music often speaks where words fail, and in that spirit, Barenboim leads the world-renowned orchestra in choir in Ukraine's national anthem by Mykhailo Verbytsky to open the program. They continue with Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony No. 8, richly expressive and hauntingly melodic, and finish with Beethoven's soul-stirring "Eroica" (Heroic) Symphony No. 3, a monumental expression of human dignity.
