Program notes
Join the terrific trio of pianist Arthur Hinnewinkel, violinist Emmanuel Coppey, and cellist Stéphanie Huang at the sixth edition of the Festival Singer-Polignac! On the program: the wonderful chamber music of Brahms and Mendelssohn. Discover Brahms’s Sonata for Violin in D Minor, a tempestuous work written at the peak of the composer’s artistic prowess, followed by his second Piano Trio in C Major, a masterpiece the composer proudly regarded as his "most beautiful trio to date." The concert concludes with Coppey’s new arrangement of Mendelssohn’s sixth Romance sans paroles, Op. 30, for trio, adding a layer of depth and dialogue between the vocal lines and revealing the full beauty of a composition inspired by a journey to Venice and enriched with stunning harmonic surprises.
