Program notes

Experience the two young Japanese virtuosos Fumiaki Miura and Nobuyuki (“Nobu”) Tsujii performing two masterpieces of the violin-piano repertoire by Franck and Brahms at Tokyo’s Ark Hills Music Week 2018!

Fumiaki and Nobu perform Franck’s Violin Sonata in A Major. Originally written as a wedding present to then 31-year-old violin virtuoso Eugène Ysaÿe, the work has become one of Franck’s best-known compositions and a fixture of violin recitals, beloved for its rich harmonic language and expressive melodies. Later, Fumiaki and Nobu present Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major, a gloriously lyrical piece of cogent dramatic impact. The three-movement sonata was composed during one of the most productive summers of Brahms’s career.

Catch Nobu live in concert at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysees on Monday 17th December! More information>
