Throughout his career, he has performed in the greatest halls around the world, including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Chicago and Los Angeles Opera Houses, the Royal Opera Covent Garden in London, the Opéra National de Paris, as well as in Vienne, Hambourg, Berlin, Munich, Dresden… Moreover, he participated for twelve consecutive years in the Bayreuth Festival.
Faninal from Der Rosenkavalier and the music teacher from Ariadne auf Naxos (both Strauss roles), as well as Alidoro from La Cenerentola by Gioacchino Rossini, are among his signature roles.
In addition to his career as an opera singer, Schulte also performs as a soloist. He has notably sung with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Claudio Abbado; with James Levine at Tanglewood Boston, in New York at the Carnegie Hall, at the Royal Albert Hall in London and in Berlin; with Sir Eliot Gardiner at the Konzerthaus in Vienna and with Esa-Pekka Salonen in Lucerne and London.
In 2008 he received the “Goethe-Medaille für Kunst und Wissenschaft” (the Goethe Medal for Art and Science), and in 2010 the honorific title of “Kammersänger” (Chamber singer).
