Singapore has successfully developed a top-class orchestra in a short space of time. Founded in 1979, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra embodies the historical transition and the musical development of Asia. Following a successful visit to the music festival in 2010, the ensemble returns to Dresden under the direction of Lan Shui, who has elevated the orchestra to new heights in East Asia. This year their program features a new composition by Singaporean Chen Zhangyi. In addition, a shining star of violin music, Gil Shaham, will be playing one of the most beautiful violin concertos of all time.
