Thibault Cauvin, in the moment

To enter the universe of Thibault Cauvin is to travel into a space of perpetual motion: a guitar prodigy, winner of 36 international prizes by the age of 20, the artist has spent most of his young life on the road, in transit from one competition, or from one concert, to the next. Yet his childhood in the Atlantic coastal region near Bordeaux—marked by a formidable love of surfing and grounded by a supportive, if sometimes eccentric family—remains with him and roots his otherwise peripatetic lifestyle. Meditative, intimate, and revelatory in turns, this concise documentary film by Robin Rieuvernet transports viewers into Cauvin’s world, with the artist’s commentary and captivating performances of varied solo repertoire for his instrument set against the arrestingly beautiful backdrop of his native Gironde's forests and dunes.
