О программе

Sir András Schiff, Hungarian-born piano virtuoso and conductor, performs Haydn and Beethoven during the 2015 Verbier Festival.

In 2014, the Verbier Festival featured the talented Sir András Schiff, one of the most renowned living interpreters of Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert, and a well-known conductor as well. He has appeared with numerous leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

The award-winning artist was honored with two Grammy Awards—first in 1990 for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance (without orchestra) for his English Suites by Bach, and later for a Schubert recital in collaboration with Peter Schreier—the 1991 Bartók Prize, and the 1994 Claudio Arrau Memorial Medal. He was appointed a Knight Bachelor through the Queen's Birthday Honors list of 2014, in recognition of his services to music.

Here Sir András Schiff performs Joseph Haydn's Piano Sonata No. 62 in E-flat Major and Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C Minor, Op. 111.
