О программе

In this colorful closing concert from the 2010 Lucerne Festival, Gustavo Dudamel and the Wiener Philharmoniker bring fire and brio to the festival's final night: a percussive program featuring thunderous drum rolls and hypnotic rhythms, including Ravel's irresistible Boléro and the effervescent overture from Rossini's La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie) with its famous opening snare drum solo.

Without ever missing a beat, the prestigious ensemble also interprets Cuban composer Julián Orbón's Tres Versiones Sinfónicas—an ingenious blend of Spanish dance, medieval chant, and Afro-Caribbean music—as well as the captivatingly rhythmic Divertimento by Leonard Bernstein. Composed in 1980 to mark the centenary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Bernstein's work draws on multiple genres to form a cohesive whole: waltz, mazurka, samba, and blues!
