プログラム解説
Ricardo Baliardo, known as “Manitas de Plata” (literally “Little Hands of Silver”), was one of the most prolific French musicians of the last century. He is the flamenco artist, across all genres, who has sold the most albums worldwide. His musical output, records, and footage of his concerts reveal a dazzling, almost wild vitality, as his prodigious right hand sends sparks flying from his guitar.
Kema Baliardo, Manitas’s grandson, performs the music he has been immersed in since childhood. He reveals a new interpretation inspired by the immense body of work left behind by his grandfather, whose most iconic themes are revisited here with a group of Roma singers and musicians alongside an instrumental ensemble consisting of a string quartet, woodwind, brass, and percussion. The original score was created by Cuban composer Ernesto Burgos Osorio, who also conducts this splendid concert.
