Joaquín Achúcarro — Pianist

Program notes

Spanish pianist Joaquín Achúcarro performs a recital that enchants from first note to last, broadcast live from the Église de Verbier at the 2021 edition of the world-renowned Verbier Festival. Rightly known as a master of the music of Johannes Brahms, the virtuoso gifts us with a blockbuster program entirely dedicated to the work of the German genius, which begins with the Piano Sonata No. 3 in F Minor, written by a 20-year-old Brahms. Following four of the deeply felt Intermezzos composed between 1892 and 1893, Achúcarro's piano sings in a soulful interpretation of the passionate Rhapsody No. 2 in G Minor, bringing the recital to a satisfying conclusion.
