Join us for the second edition of the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam! Live from De Doelen Concert Hall, six young artists chosen from a pool of 175 applicants — Luis Castillo-Briceño (Costa Rica), Yukuang Jin (China), Jakub Przybycień (Poland), Rodrigo Sámano Albarrán (Mexico), Miguel Sepúlveda (Portugal), and Sam Weller (Australia) — demonstrate their talent across five thrilling rounds in front of a jury of globally renowned experts, including the likes of Iván Fischer, Jane Glover, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Sian Edwards, and more. The candidates conduct a delightfully diverse repertoire alongside prestigious orchestras like the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Sinfonia Rotterdam, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, with each round based on a different theme ranging from contemporary music to opera.
The ICCR affords its six finalists extraordinary opportunities even before the final rounds, which are the culmination of a yearlong process of career development including three weeklong Academies that saw them travel to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Vienna to meet with top-name conductors like Lahav Shani, Karina Canellakis, Klaus Mäkelä, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. These six "Designated Winners" compete in all five final rounds, with a winner chosen for each round ahead of a Grand Prix (worth €15,000) at the competition’s end. Watch the two last rounds, Opera and Large Symphonic, on medici.tv, and find out who will take home the Grand Prix!
