Château de Versailles Spectacles

As a subsidiary of the Public Establishment of the Museum and National Estate of Versailles, the purpose of Château de Versailles Spectacles is to maintain the tradition of performing arts, and to create a season of live shows and outstanding events. Faithful to its history, the Palace of Versailles continues to be the setting for a widely varied cultural life and series of events.

A plurality of shows is proposed to audiences throughout the year (shows at the Orangery of the Palace of Versailles, the Fountains Shows of Versailles, fancy-dress events and masked balls), and a musical season (operas, concerts and ballets) at the Royal Opera and Royal Chapel of Versailles.

The Royal Chapel

The Royal Chapel is a masterpiece of the art of the 17th century. It contains a magnificent painted vault and a Clicquot organ. Designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1699, the Royal Chapel was completed in 1710 by his brother-in-law Robert de Cotte at the end of the reign of Louis XIV.

The Royal Chapel welcomed all the religious events (masses, weddings and royal baptisms until 1789), and now hosts about thirty concerts of sacred music each year.
