Sobre el programa...
Discover Verdi’s Aida, staged by Gale Edwards in the magical setting of the Sydney Harbour. When war breaks out, Radamès is chosen to lead the Egyptian army against Ethiopia. Victory makes Radamès a hero, but it in turn complicates his relationship with his beloved, the Ethiopian princess Aida. She is thus confronted by a deeply tragic choice: desert her lover or betray her country…
Stage director Gale Edwards brings a contemporary perspective to one of the world’s favorite operas. Designed by Mark Thompson, the stage is epic in its scale and intimate in its depiction of the amorous triangle between Aida, Radamès, and the Egyptian king’s daughter Amneris. Latonia Moore, sensational in her début as Aida at New York’s Metropolitan Opera, delivers another unforgettable performance of the role which brought her fame, alongside Walter Fraccaro as Radames and Milijana Nikolic as her rival Amneris.
