Sobre el programa...

Today the best-known work by Armenian composer Alexander Arutiunian, the thrillingly flashy and deeply soulful Trumpet Concerto in A-flat (1949-50) is the composer's expression of national identity, incorporating the melodies and rhythms of Armenian folk music. An immediate hit with audiences, critics, and trumpeters alike, it is an electrifying and virtuosic showpiece that takes full advantage of the instrument's capabilities. Watch the great Sergiu Carstea explain the magic behind the music!
