Sobre el programa...

Tugan Sokhieb teaches the art of conducting in a series of master classes broadcast live from the Académie internationale de Direction d'Orchestre. Brahms Symphony No. 4, Stravinsky's The Firebird and Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun are programmed.

Committing themselves to the education of future generations, with the participation of its musicians the Orchestre National du Capitole (ONCT) founded the Académie internationale de Direction d'Orchestre. The Académie offers a series of master classes to young conductors who already have professional experience. These master classes are given under the direction of Tugan Sokhiev, musical director of the ONCT.

In this academy, I am trying to explain in particular how a conductor can communicate musical ideas with gesture, with body language. When it comes to gesture, the baton has little importance. What is essential is being connected with and enter into the music. —Tugan Sokhiev

For this year's Académie, four participants were selected:

  • Pierre Mosnier, assistant conductor (with with Lawrence Foster) of the Opera de Marseille since November 2014
  • Victorien Vanoosten, assistant conductor (with Lawrence Foster) of the Opera de Marseille since November 2014
  • Andrei Feher, assistant conductor (to Paavo Järvi) of the Orchestre de Paris in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016
  • Gevorg Gharabekyan, conductor and artistic director of Kammerorchester I TEMPI in Basel (since January 2013)
