Sobre el programa...

During the 12th edition of the Jazz à La Villette Festival, Stéphane Belmondo and his musicians interpret jazz standards by famed American pianist Horace Silver. Belmondo is a multiple Victoires du Jazz laureate whose prolific career has seen him collaborate with artists like Eric Legnini, Samy Thiebault, Michel Legrand, and the great Gil Evans. Here, alongside double bassist Thomas Bramerie, pianist Kirk Lightsey, and a rhythmic section made up of Jorge Bezerra and Laurent Robin, Belmondo performs Silver's masterworks.

The concert opens with the vibrant St. Vitus Dance, interpreted with incredible precision in sound and rhythm. The virtuoso's timbre on trumpet and on bugle is exquisite, and his impressive trademark phrasing is equal to the reputation he built in France and New York, alongside such monuments as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Al Foster, Donald Brown, as well as his own brother, saxophonist Lionel Belmondo. He is also know for his ties to the classical world: his 2003 collaboration with the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France is now engrained the memories of French music enthusiats!

This is just one of over 500 amazing jazz concerts available on medici.tv!
