Sobre el programa...

At only 33 years old, saxophonist Melissa Aldana performs her signature compositions with brilliance, accompanied by her string quartet at the Jazzahead Festival 2022. The musician started playing the saxophone in her native country, Chili, thanks to her father, a professional saxophonist. She then pursued her musical studies at Berklee College of Music, where she graduated in 2009. With her band, she proves to us once more that jazz is only in its initial stages and that an infinite number of harmonic, rhythmic, and melodic possibilities are still to be explored.

As the first woman to win the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition, Melissa Aldana released her first album, Free Fall, in 2010. This work propelled her to fame at 22 on the greatest stages of contemporary jazz, including the Blue Note Jazz Club and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Her sensational talent on the tenor saxophone is a sign of a particularly promising future.

This is just one of over 500 amazing jazz concerts available on medici.tv!
