Jonathan Jurion en Martinique

Jonathan Jurion is an artist that likes to walk the fine line between modern jazz and "gwo-ka", one of the island of Guadeloupe's traditional styles. During this concert held in the gardens of the Collectivité Territoriale de Martinique à Fort-de-France, the prominent pianist and his band honor the music of American saxophonist and ethnomusicologist Marion Brown, one of the greatest figures of free jazz. Pianist and composer Jonathan Jurion is a popular figure of Guadeloupean jazz whose reputation has grown to reach the forefront of the Caribbean jazz scene. An admirer of Michel Petrucciani, Alain Jean-Marie, and Mario Canonge, he has also been a member of such bands as Sonny Troupé and Ralph Lavital.
