James «Blood» Ulmer - Phalanx Revisited en Francia

For this concert at the Festival Sons d’Hiver, James ‘Blood’ Umler rekindles his years with the group Phalanx, and transports us into an intense, lyrical, and booming atmosphere. 

The guitarist, singer and composer Ulmer is a prolific activist in the movement of Free Jazz. He became established in the 70’s during his participation in Art Blakey’s group, the Jazz Messengers, then later under the mentorship of Ornette Coleman. Ulmer’s groups, Music Revelation Ensemble, Phalanx, and his trio have all been met with huge acclaim since the 1980’s with their mixof free jazz, funk, and blues.
