Sobre el programa...
Saxophonist Isaiah Collier and his ensemble The Chosen Few pay a heartfelt tribute to John Coltrane, continuing Collier's years-long project following in Coltrane's spiritual footsteps through his own repertoire. This new encounter captures Coltrane's inner voice and insatiable thirst for freedom, allowing themes to unfold and rhythms to intensify little by little, keeping Coltrane's legacy as vividly alive as ever in the present day.
From the South Side of Chicago, Isaiah Coller has emerged as one of the most remarkable voices of today's jazz scene, distinguishing himself as a composer, arranger, and pedagogue. Hailed as "the next sax giant" by DownBeat and featured in the New York Times, Collier is also a member of the legendary AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians), following in the grand Chicago tenor sax tradition, and has collaborated with other prominent artists like Kahil El'Zabar, Ambrose Akinmusire, Marshall Allen and William Parker. For this concert at Jazz Middelheim 2026, Collier and The Chosen Few shine a new light on the limitless artistry of Coltrane in the year of his centenary.
