Sobre el programa...
As a tribute to Zorro, created more than a century ago by the American writer Johnston McCulley, Italian saxophonist Francesco Bearzatti reveals a set of original compositions, performed in front of excerpts from the first silent film dedicated to the character. Bearzatti's sound, deliberately devoid of vibrato like Paul Desmond's, is fueled by the energetic accompaniments of his trusty Tinissima Quartet. This performance, recorded in 2021 at the Maison de la Culture of Nevers Agglomération, follows the legacy of his earlier works in honor of Malcolm X and photographer and activist Tina Modotti.
Indeed, more than a concert, this is an ode to resistance and justice, a delightful adventure that aims above all to awaken consciences. Bearzatti’s talent is also that of an informed and ingenious composer, ready to reproduce in his compositions the mischief and panache of this emblematic fictional figure of the past century. The virtuoso offers a brilliant adventure, not signed with the sword, but with the pavilion of his tenor saxophone!
This is just one of over 500 amazing jazz concerts available on medici.tv!
