Sobre el programa...
This documentary closely follows violinist and conductor Vladimir Spivakov as he works with the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra during their tour of Omsk and Perm, exploring the mysteries of a profession that is both demanding and elusive. Guided by the legacy of his mentor Leonard Bernstein, Spivakov shares his vision of conducting as an art of listening, communication, and communion. Between rehearsals, concerts, and moments of reflection, the camera captures the almost invisible bond that unites conductor with orchestra, revealing the tension and magic that precede each performance.
Drawing on a vast repertoire—from Dmitri Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony to George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, from the music of Johann Sebastian Bach to Johannes Brahms’s final symphony, not to mention the works of Alfred Schnittke—the film explores the very nature of interpretation. Through reflections on art, spirituality, and the musician’s responsibility, it paints a sensitive portrait of a deeply committed artist, revealing how music becomes a universal language capable of transforming both those who perform it and those who listen.
