Sobre el programa...

Revisit an early-career treasure by piano powerhouse Yefim Bronfman, recorded in 1987 at the Munich Residenz—Germany's largest city palace, and a fitting concert venue for piano royalty. Still shy of his 30th birthday, before the Carnegie Hall debut and seven Grammy nominations (and counting), the young Bronfman demonstrates all the gifts that will make him one of the world's most in-demand artists for decades to come in an all-Brahms recital featuring two masterpieces composed over three decades apart. First up is the final work Brahms wrote for solo piano, the four poetic Klavierstücke of Op. 119 (1894), suffused with both melancholy and defiance, followed by the masterful Handel Variations (1861), among the most lauded sets of variations ever composed—the work of one young genius in the virtuosic hands of another.
