Sobre el programa...
French conductor Sylvain Cambreling leads American composer Marc Neikrug's contemporary work Through Roses, with actor Harry Towb, violinist Pinchas Zukerman, and seven other talented musicians!
Composed in 1980, Through Roses is a poignant portrait of an aging violinist, haunted by memories of the Nazi concentration camps where he was forced to play in order to survive. Conceived as a work of musical theater, the musicians on stage are an integral part of the drama, representing fragments of the violinist's imagination, played by Harry Towb. Like manifestations of the horrific memories buried in the protagonist's subconscious, they perform in an abrupt, distorted manner the works of German composers Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, which Neikrug includes in his scores. As memories boil to the surface, the violinist plunges deeper and deeper into his memory, until he reaches the heart of his trauma, which gives this avant-garde work its title. A fascinating psychological and artistic journey, Through Roses is a magnificent testament to human resilience, which could not be better conveyed than through the camera of director Christopher Nupen!
