Sobre el programa...
Distinguished violinist Isabelle Faust joins forces with one of today’s leading Baroque ensembles, Il Giardino Armonico, to perform several masterpieces from the oeuvre of Pietro Locatelli, known as “the Paganini of the 18th century.” Together, they spotlight several concertos from his seminal L’Arte del violino, whose caprices — marked by breathtaking virtuosity and technical difficulty — justify the comparison with his Genoese counterpart. Faust and Il Giardino also treat us to a magnificent performance of one of Locatelli's most famous concertos, Il Pianto d’Arianna, inspired by the Greek myth of Ariadne and Theseus. While Ariadne helps Theseus defeat the Minotaur and escape the labyrinth designed by the ingenious Daedalus, the man who promises to save her ends up leaving her behind on the shore… The plaintive melodies of this extraordinary concerto resonate richly under the graceful fingers of the German virtuoso.
