Marie-Elisabeth Hecker and Martin Helmchen play Webern, Brahms and Schubert

In line with the Tetzlaff siblings, with whom they have given several concerts, husband and wife Marie-Elisabeth Hecker and Martin Helmchen are used to play together; the German cellist started her international career in 2005, after having gained sensational success at the Paris Rostropovich Cello Competition. She is now among the most sought-after soloists and chamber musicians of the younger generation. Martin Helmchen has been awarded with many awards, such as two Echo Klassik awards, the prize of the Clara Haskil competition, or the Crédit suisse's prize for young artists. He made a highly praised debut on the world music stage with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Jurowski, Philippe Herreweghe, and more recently Christoph von Dohnanyi, etc. His wide repertoire allows him to play with great virtuosity various works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schubert or Schumann...

At the Eglise de Verbier, they will perform Drei kleine Stücke for cello and piano, by Anton Webern, but also Brahms's Cello Sonata No. 1 in E Minor and Schubert's Sonata in A Minor for Arpeggione and Piano written when the composer was already very ill.
