Lukas Geniušas — Pianista

Sobre el programa...

#mediciverbier10 – We are delighted to present the great young Lukas Geniušas in a solo recital featuring music by his favorite composers, Schumann, Chopin and Prokofiev.

Schumann’s Carnival Scenes from Vienna was written in 1839 after a stay in Vienna. A selection of Chopin’s Mazurkas follows. Composed sporadically throughout his career, the Mazurka’s are, according to his student Wilhelm von Lenz, “the diary of his soul’s journey through the socio-political territories of his Sarmatian dream-world”. Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 2 in D Minor, one the composer most popular sonatas, ends the recital.

The 26 year-old pianist recently came to international attention following exceptional performances during the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition, as well as winning the second prize at the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition.
