Sobre el programa...

The Verbier Festival's 25th anniversary celebrations open with a chamber music concert in the Verbier Church featuring two of classical music's most promising young talents: cellist Andrei Ioniță and pianist Seong-Jin Cho. medici.tv has followed these artists from their very first steps onto the international music scene!

For Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniţă, it all began when he won first prize at the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition (with a performance still available on replay on medici.tv): “The competition marked the beginning of my career... it's an event that could be considered the Olympic Games of classical music. After living through the incredible pressure and managing to complete all of the rounds playing such challenging repertoire, I now feel ready for anything.” Ioniţă performs with South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho, a confirmed “Chopinophile” and winner of the 2015 Chopin Competition. Together they perform Gaspar Cassadó’s Solo Cello Suite, Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 3 in A Major Op. 69, Schumann’s Fantasiestücke Op.73, and Shostakovich’s Cello Sonata in D Minor, Op. 40.
