Sobre el programa...
Dive into the story of Marie Antoinette as you've never seen it in this picture-perfect ballet! The great Thierry Malandain's choreography depicts the ill-fated queen from her courtly debut and the inauguration of the Royal Opera all the way to her inglorious end at the Place de la Concorde… Fittingly, Malandain's work unfolds against the ornate backdrop of that same Royal Opera in Versailles, danced to perfection by the acclaimed Malandain Ballet Biarritz.
The ballet traces the trials and tribulations of a queen once adored and later despised, played by the graceful Claire Lonchampt alongside a host of sublime performers like Mickaël Conte, who takes the role of King Louis XVI. Dressed in sumptuous costumes by Jorge Gallardo and Véronique Murat, the dancers breathe life and dynamism into each role, their movements a perfect match with Haydn's symphonies and Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice—all interpreted beautifully by the Basque National Orchestra under Mélanie Levy-Thiébaut!
