Aside from his musicology studies at the Sorbonne (Paris IV), his curiosity for multiple forms of artistic expression and for current modes of thinking lead him in 2006 to found an instrumental ensemble mainly focused on spreading and creating music. It quickly took the name of "Ensemble C Barré".
Willing to stay close to instrumental and vocal music, he completed his training with interpretation classes and conducting projects at the ARIAM Ile-de-France. Then, he collaborated with the Chœur d'Assemblée de Radio France, the Chœur Contemporain, the orchestre de chambre européen AME, the Orchestre des Jeunes de Méditerranée, and then he was several times invited by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France as a zitherist. In 2013, he was selected as a conductor to take part in the International Academy of the l'Ensemble Modern in Austria.
In 2009, aged 24 years old, he was invited to prepare the Choeur de Radio France with Matthias Brauer and Eliahu Inbal to create Thierry Lancino's Requiem. Afterwards, he was regularly invited for new productions, including Paul Dukas' Ariane et Barbe-Bleue (Salle Pleyel, 2011), Bartók's The Miraculous Mandarin (Festival Présences, 2012), El Beso a creation of Florent Motsch (programme Alla Breve, 2012) and Philippe Bodin's Missa Brevissima (programme Alla Breve, 2014). For all those productions, he worked with Jean Deroyer, Susanna Mälkki, Pascal Rophé and Mikko Franck.
Sébastien Boin is currently Roland Hayrabedian's assistant in the Musicatreize ensemble and teaches musical direction at the Aix-en-Provence Concervatory (CFMI).
