Nadezhda Karyazina was born in Moscow in 1986, and from 2003 to 2008 was trained at the Russian Academy of the Theatrical Arts in Moscow, at the faculty for musical theatre.

After she graduated from the Academy she was admitted to the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center, where among others she performed the roles of Laura in Tchaikovsky's Iolantha, Contessa di Ceprano in Verdi's Rigoletto, Dunyasha in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tsar's Bride, Siebel in Gounod's Faust and Olga in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.

Prizes Nadezhda has won include a Diploma at the Russian Theatrical Competition 'Capital Renaissance' (2008), she was also a prize winner at the 2012 Operalia and Neue Stimmen competitions (both finals of which were broadcast live on medici.tv), as well as winning second prize at the 2012 Savonlinna Opera Competition in Finland.

Since 2010 she has been a member of the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, where she has taken part in master-classes with Gloria Guida Borelli, Laura Claycomb, Elena Obraztsova, Eugeny Nesterenko, Luba Orfenova, Diane Zola, Richard Bado and Ann Hallenberg among others.

She has performed the roles of Marquise Melibea in scenes from Il viaggio a Reims by Rossini at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow with the 'Moscow Soloists' Chamber Orchestra under Yuri Bashmet, and her debut at the Bolshoi was as Petrovna in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Tsar's Bride, conducted by Vasily Sinaisky. In March 2011 she also sung the part of mezzo-soprano in Mozart's Requiem at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Opera highlights from the 12/13 season have included the roles Polinesso/Ariodante and Charlotte/Werther at the Salzburger Landestheater and Lel/The Snow Maiden, Soneyetka/Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk and Princess Clarice/The Love of three Oranges all at the Bolshoi Theatre. Other recent concert engagements have included the Neue Stimmen 25th anniversary concert as well as a gala with Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo in Moscow.

Nadezhda is a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, London and recently made her stage debut singing Mercedes in Carmen. During the 2013/14 season, she has sung Rosette in Manon, Die Frau ohne Schatten and Flora/La Traviata and Madrigal Singer/Manon Lescaut as part of the 13/14 season. At the Bolshoi recently she has sung Princess Clarice in The Love of three Oranges and given a recital in Bad Worishofen for the Festival for the Nations.

Roles for the 14/15 season at Covent Garden include: Maddalena/Rigoletto, Second Lady/Die Zauberflote and Flora/La Traviata. Other future engagements include Olga/Eugene Onegin with Opera de Limoges and Garsington Opera.
