Giacomo Prestia

A native of Florence (Italy), Giacomo Prestia studied vocal technique with Maestro Sergio Catoni. He won several international competitions including the "Concorso internazionale Voci Verdiane" in Busseto and the "Concorso Luciano Pavarotti" in Philadelphia.

He made his Opera debut with Giuseppe Verdi's Alzira in Fidenza in 1991, after which he embarked upon an intense and brilliant career that saw him performing in the major opera houses of the world, among them: Teatro alla Scala, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opéra Nazionale de Paris, Wiener Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zurich, Teatro Real de Madrid, Liceu de Barcelona, Staatsoper Unter den Linden and Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, San Carlo in Naples, Berlin's Philharmonic with the famous Berliner Orchestra, Teatro Regio di Parma. Mr. Prestia has also worked with prominent conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Myung-Whun Chung, Antonio Pappano, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, George Pretre, Daniele Gatti, Nicola Luisotti, Nello Santi, Bruno Campanella, Maurizio Benini, Michele Mariotti, Jader Bignamini.

Among his recent engagements: Vespri Siciliani in Parma, Macbeth in Bilbao e Montecarlo, Aida at Florence 74th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, at Scala de Milan and Arena di Verona, Norma at Bari and Turin, Lucia di Lammermoor and Masnadieri at Naple, Don Carlo in Wien, Modena, Turin and Piacenza, Forza del Destino at Sydney, Simon Boccanegra at Budapest, Parma and Turin, Les Troyens at the Scala in Milan with conductor Antonio Pappano and stage director David McVicar. Among his future engagements: Simon Boccanegra at Venice with conductor Myung-Whun Chung, Macbeth a Lisbona, Don Giovanni at Montecarlo, Don Carlo at Melbourne and Berlin.
