The DSO’s performance schedule includes Classical, Pops, Jazz, Young People’s, Neighborhood concerts, and collaborations with chart-topping musicians from Smokey Robinson to Kid Rock.
A commitment to broadcast innovation began in 1922 when the DSO became the first orchestra in the world to present a radio broadcast and continues today with the free Live from Orchestra Hall webcast series. Making its home at historic Orchestra Hall at the Max M. Fisher Music Center, one of America’s most acoustically perfect concert halls, the DSO actively pursues a mission to impact and serve the community through music.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra's 2013-14 season
In 2013-14 the DSO welcomes violinists Gil Shaham, Anne Akiko Meyers, and Augustin Hadelich; pianists Lang Lang, Leon Fleisher, and Jean Yves-Thibaudet; cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Zuill Bailey; and conductors Andrew Litton, Thierry Fisher, and Giancarlo Guerrero, and many more.
Leonard Slatkin leads world premieres and new music by Bright Sheng, Mason Bates, David Del Tredici, and more. From Tchaikovsky’s Fifth to Mahler’s Third and Fourth symphonies to Carmina Burana the season is also packed with symphonic blockbusters.
