Held every three years since 1965 and hosted by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Nicolai Malko Competition seeks to discover the next generation of brilliant young maestros. Fabio Luisi, principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, is the chairman of the 2018 competition, and will be the personal mentor of its winner. This year’s 24 Malko participants compete for a first prize that includes conducting contracts with 25 leading European orchestras, and the opportunity to conduct the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in an audiovisual studio-production, among other exciting opportunities!
