Program notes

Discover the two cellists students Anouchka Hack and Shizuka Mitsui join Gautier Capuçon and the Classe d'Excellence de Violoncelle for the last master class of the 2017-2018 season! Live from the Fondation Louis Vuitton auditorium, Anouchka Hack will work the third movement of the Cello Concerto in B minor of Antonín Dvořák and Shizuka Mitsui will work and interpret the second and third movements of the Arpeggione Sonata by Franz Schubert.

The Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle offers six talented young cellists (selected through auditions in France and around the world) the opportunity to grow as individual artists and as professional musicians under the guidance of cellist Gautier Capuçon and pianist Samuel Parent. They participate in a comprehensive training course that complements their formal musical studies, exposing them to a broad range of music and musicians of different cultures and educational backgrounds.

Gautier Capuçon is one of the most accomplished cellists in today's classical music world. He collaborates regularly with conductors like Lionel Bringuier, Myung-Whun Chung, Gustavo Dudamel, Charles Dutoit, Semyon Bychkov, Leonard Slatkin, and Valery Gergiev. He performs regularly as a soloist with today's leading orchestras and in various international festivals. He has won numerous prizes and awards throughout his career, including the Premier Grand Prix of the Concours International André Navarra in Toulouse, was named 'New Talent of the Year' by Victoires de la Musique in 2001, and multiple ECHO Klassik awards (most notably in 2012 for his recording with Valery Gergiev).
