Program notes

Meshell Ndegeocello bring soul music back to life during this concert during the Banlieues Festival in 2016. The African-American singer is regarded as the founder of neo-soul, as well as having been a 10 time Grammy Nominee. Here, she is joined by guitarist Chris Bruce, pianist Jebin Bruni and drummer Abraham Rounds, who all add their own unique musicality to Ndegecello’s greatness.

In an interview by Claudrena N. Harold for PopMatters, Ndegecello describes her collaboration with Bruce: "He is as much an incredible person as he is an incredible musician. I believe it’s important for an artist to have someone who can stretch your limits, someone who is a good support for the artist and someone who is open to new ideas. All of that, I found in him…”.

This is just one of over 500 amazing jazz concerts available on medici.tv!
