Program notes

Characterized by a melodic and powerful brand of jazz fusion, Forq floods Zurich's Moods Club with its electronic sonorities, in the course of this 2019 concert. Sometimes angsty, sometimes exalted, the metallic sound of this legendary band is the fruit of a long process that began with the reunion of Michael League, bassist of Snarky Puppy fame, and multitalented keyboardist Henry Hey. Now brilliantly accompanied by Kevin Scott on electric bass, Christopher McQueen on guitar, and Jason Thomas on drums, the band performs an impressive list of compositions by its current members.

Henry Hey is renowned for his collaborations with such artists as David Bowie and Rod Stewart, resulting in pop and rock influencing his own works, a fact which can be felt throughout this concert. A cinematic dimension also oozes from this performance, probably originating in Hey's multiple experiences as an actor, most notably in Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Twelve. All that talent is on full display here, along with that of Hey's stage partners, creating an exiting and energetic performance.
