Program notes

This concert, given in 2007 at La Cigale in Paris, is the culmination of the "Malian Project", a new step in the career of jazz diva Dee Dee Bridgewater. This experiment seeks to deepen the ties between two worlds, Malian music and Jazz, and this concert allows us to explore these two aesthetics, that are so close yet so far apart.

Accompanied with exceptional musicians such as Baba Sissoko, Kabine Kouyaté, Mamani Keita, and the N'Goni Ba group, Dee Dee Bridgewater fuses two universes together. Her unique voice, her history and personality add to this boiling cauldron of creativity in a meeting that has already marked the history of Jazz and Malian music.
