Take a journey to another world with Chucho Valdés and Archie Shepp’s extraordinary Afro-Cuban project. Just like the little dog who wanders off stage at the beginning of the show, Valdés kicks off the show with a meandering run on the keys. Backed by a world-class eight-piece ensemble, Valdés and Shepp show the influence and importance of the collective in the jazz experience. In the third piece, Yansa, a call-and-response style brings the audience back to a different time, evoking a return to the band's roots.
