Director Andrei Konchalovsky presents his very personal interpretation of the libretto and explains the importance of emotion in his staging. Renowned conductor Gianandrea Noseda, who conducts the Orchestra del Teatro Regio, is also interviewed and explains his interpretation of the score. He also discusses the various existing versions of the opera and the version chosen for this production, based on a new musical structure stemming from Mussorgsky’s 1872 written version and the adaptation work carried out by Konchalovsky and Noseda.
