Program notes

The legendary piano duo Katia and Marielle Labèque have always had their own way of doing things. Follow them on their most recent adventures in this fascinating documentary by Félix Cábez.

From collaborations with Messiaen to two-piano versions of Gershwin, from work on historical fortepianos to Ravel reinterpretations on Basque instruments, the Labèque sisters have one of the most unique careers in all of classical music. In this recent documentary, close friends, beloved collaborators, and the sisters themselves reflect on their remarkable path and on the adventures still to come. The film also includes extracts from their and their colleagues' amazing performances of works by Mozart, Schubert, Ravel, Albeniz, Golijov, and Gershwin.
