The British conductor John Eliot Gardiner has set his mind on performing all of Johann Sebastian Bach's cantatas.
This film follows Gardiner and his two ensembles, the Monteverdi Choir et The English Baroque Soloists, on tour through Saxony and Thuringia, where Bach lived and where the cantatas are performed in concert. This pilgrimage on Bach's footsteps offers Gardiner the opportunity to discover Bach, his life and work in his own, very personal way.
Bach revisited follows Gardiner to Eisenach, Arnstadt, Pomßen and Leipzig. The British conductor visits the old church at Pomßen, discovers that Martin Luther and J.S.Bach attended the same school, and discusses the new Bach organ in St Thomas's Church in Leipzig with the local organist.
