Program notes

Laisser une trace dans le cœur by Gérard Corbeau, is a documentary on Augustin Dumay, "one of the greatest violinists of our time."

In 1979, Herbert von Karajan sent an unknown thirty-year-old violinist onto the international stage. Performing first in Paris, then in Berlin, audiences and critics were ecstatic. Dumay's career as a soloist had been launched.

In this film, the great director Gérard Corbiau paints a portrait of Augustin Dumay, a virtuoso violinist who Herbert Von Karajan called "the tall Frenchman with a sense of humor". This moving documentary focuses on the important moments of Augustin Dumay's life and career. Apart from his solo career, Augustin Dumay also served as the music director of the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie.
