The incredible experience of the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition continues on medici.tv: watch the first day of the Final Round of the cello gathering two of the six young cellists selected to perform in a concert on the stage of the Grand Hall of Saint Petersburg Philharmonia!
For the first time, medici.tv is the official partner of the Competition and has broadcast all the performances and more during the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, live from Moscow and Saint Petersburg. For the occasion, medici.tv has created a brand new website: http://tch15.medici.tv. The main website medici.tv is also broadcasting the Opening Concert, the Final Rounds, the Awards Ceremony and the Concert of the Laureates!
After the last two weeks, making it through two rounds of selection, the cellists must now give their all in the Final of the Tchaikovsky Competition. Six cellists have prevailed to the Final: Pablo Ferrández-Castro, Andrei Ionuț Ioniță, Alexander Buzlov, Seung Min Kang, Jonathan Roozeman et Alexander Ramm.
For this first day of the Final Round of cello, Pablo Ferrández-Castro and Andrei Ionuț Ioniță both perform Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33, then Pablo Ferrández-Castro performs Dvorák's Cello Concerto in B Minor, Op. 104 and Andrei Ionuț Ioniță performs Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 107. They are accompanied by the Orchestra of the Shostakovich State Academic Saint Petersburg Philharmonic conducted by Nikolai Alexeev.
The announcement of the winners will be broadcast live from the Awards Ceremony on medici.tv on July 1st and on http://tch15.medici.tv On July 3rd, after the Concert of the Laureates in Saint Petersburg, a Grand Prix may also be awarded to one of the candidates...
